Runner or Shadow Boxer
I Cor. 9: 24,26 “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly: so fight I, not as one that beatheth the air.”
Don’t run like a shadow boxer (one who stands in one spot and beat the air). Shadow boxers aren't going anywhere. They are just beating the air. You must first be eligible to run in the race. What makes you eligible? When you turn from your sin (all unrighteousness) and receive Jesus as Savior, you are ready to enter the race!
A few tips to help you win this race: Remember, keep your eyes on the Leader of this race who is Jesus and follow His instructions. “… lay aside every weight, and the sin that doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…” Hebrews12:1-2.
You can’t win the race weighted down with unrighteousness or anything that can turn you away from God and cause you to be displeasing to Him. Run with confidence as you listen to the promise of the Leader, “ I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go : I will guide thee with my eye .” Psalms 32:8
What a wonderful promise, if you follow the Leader you can’t go wrong. He will lead you by His word, “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying , this is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21
Pray with me, “Oh Lord open my ears that I may hear you and help me to follow as you guide me with your eye.”
